When you receive an envelope for signature, Doctavian guides you through a simple two-step process: accepting the electronic signing terms, and completing all required fields across the documents.
You will receive an email notification when an envelope is ready for your signature. Click the link in the email to open the signing experience.
Before you can sign, you are presented with the Electronic Record and Signature Disclosure. This is a legal notice confirming that you agree to sign and receive documents electronically.
Read the disclosure carefully, then click Accept and proceed to continue to the document. You cannot proceed to signing without accepting the terms.
After accepting, the signing interface opens showing the document with all fields assigned to you highlighted and ready to fill in.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Guide me | Steps through each required field in order, automatically moving to the next field after each one is completed. |
| Fill or Sign | Lets you click and complete fields manually in any order you prefer. |
| Focus mode | Hides the surrounding interface and focuses the view on the current field for a distraction-free signing experience. |
Once all required fields are filled in, click the confirm button in the top-right corner to submit your signature and complete the envelope. You will receive a confirmation once the envelope is finalized.
If you do not wish to sign, click Decline. You will be prompted to provide a reason if the sender has made a decline reason mandatory. The sender will be notified that you have declined.
You can leave a comment on the envelope at any point during signing by clicking the Leave a comment button in the right sidebar. Comments are visible to the sender and other recipients.
Exiting the signing session without completing all required fields does not submit your signature. The envelope remains pending until you return and complete it before its expiration date.
